Drawing Policies

Drawings are done in priority sequence, which means designs are typically completed the night before or day of the appointment. Designs are shown when you arrive to your appointment.

Designs are not sent through e-mail (unless I need clarification for something) for a few reasons:

-art theft is unfortunately a big problem in any creative industry. With tattooing in particular, having someone take the design to “someone cheaper” is a possibility.

-the design has been drawn to work as a tattoo, and certain creative decisions made are made for this fact. I prefer going over the design in person at the appointment, where I can guide you through why I approached the drawing a certain way. I’m always open to your input, of course!

-my stencils look very different than my completed work. If you’ve looked at my portfolio and like what you’ve seen, trust the process! Seeing the linework on a screen can be jarring; the magic happens when the stencil is applied and you can see how the piece was drawn to flow with your anatomy!

-simply put, there isn’t enough time to complete drawings in advance and go back and forth for approval.

-getting multiple outside opinions from friends or family can lead to confusion and muddle your original vision of the tattoo.

With all this being said, please do not be shy to speak up at your appointment with any questions or concerns.

I’m more than happy to accommodate small changes on the spot and fully respect that this is going on YOUR body. Being as clear as possible with your initial emails will give me a good sense of what it is you’re looking for, and it’s wildly important that you specify things you like/don’t like.

The clearer you are in what your vision is, the easier my job is to get it right the first time.

Deposits risk being forfeit in these cases:

-you change your idea completely from what you had originally booked for. Your deposit is for the original idea you booked for, as the appointment slot was dedicated to that piece.

-multiple revisions are made on the day of your appointment. As mentioned, I’m happy to make small changes, but please let me know what they are all at once. I go to the back to make alterations to the drawing, so going back and forth will eat into the appointment time and risk your deposit being forfeit in order to compensate my drawing time.

-the appointment was booked for a large piece, but it ends up being dramatically scaled down. Ie, you booked in for a 12” piece but end up wanting it to be 6”. This will essentially make our appointment half as long as what it was supposed to be.

Ultimately, please just be clear and certain in what you’d like!
