How to prepare for your appointment
Properly preparing for your tattoo will make the experience more pleasant for the both of us. Longer sessions are especially crucial to plan ahead for, and certain areas of the body can require a bit more care to ensure proper application of the tattoo.
Things to have on hand:
a drink and snack(s) are suggested to bring to your appointment. I kindly ask that you don’t bring any nut products, as I am allergic.
a change of clothing if required. For example, if you’re getting your thigh tattooed, you can bring shorts, a skirt, or bathing suit bottoms.
a sweater or something else cozy, in case you get chilly. It can also serve as an extra pillow for your head if needed!
unscented soap (not a bar) at home. Some recommended brands are Spectro Gel, Dial Unscented, etc.
a phone charger.
For the days leading up to your appointment:
in the warmer months, avoid getting sunburnt or bit by mosquitos. If the area to be tattooed is affected by any kind of active skin blemish, we won’t be able to proceed with the session.
avoid heavy drinking at least 48 hrs before your appointment; alcohol thins your blood.
gently exfoliate and moisturize the area daily.
keep up with your hydration and sleep!
On the day of your appointment:
don’t take any Advil, Tylenol, or similar pain relievers prior to coming in; they can thin your blood.
please show up squeaky clean and ensure your clothing is clean as well.
eat a big (preferably healthy) meal closer to your appointment time.
if travelling from out of town, please double check the time of your route to make sure you’ll arrive on time!
please do not bring a guest (especially for longer sessions, they’ll get bored) during flu season.
make sure your bedding is clean for when you get home!
If you have any questions regarding a specific concern, please don’t hesitate to reach out via e-mail!
